wyatt's way

"O Tannenbaum" Wyatt's way ;-) Recorded Summer 1981, released 1982-03 on "Nothing Can Stop Us" (Rough Trade) … Robert Wyatt also wrote the liner notes for a 1991 compilation of '7Ts piano pieces by Cornelius Cardew which featured "Red flag prelude" (197X). Hey and can someone please add Mr. Wyatt's interpretation to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O_Tannenbaum ?!? [Nope ain't gonna do it myself.]

mah na mah na dat bip bippadotta

Piero Umiliani's classic track (1968), as made famous by David Mahna MacKay (in 1969 - more on him in the next post), Sesame Street (1969), Sesamstraße (?) and, last but not least, the Muppets (e.g. 1976) … Apparently, Jim Henson c.s. have recorded several versions, most of them by the character Bip Bippadotta ... but Sandra Bullock did her part too - see http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Mahna_Mahna_(song) for more on all that!

italo funk experience

Media_httpwwwimcdborg_bzlqv

A Goblink Floyd ripoff or other Oldfieldesque exorcism + a few other gems off the "(Big Bang Present) Italian Funk Experience (Synth Funk, Italo-Exploitation & Espresso-Jazz From Italy 1969-1980)" v/a cd. Mostly filled with Italian library, it's not as exquisite as the French volume, sadly. Also just out in Nascente's half-a-midprice "Funk Experience" series: "(DJ Andy Smith & Keith Lawrence Present) Jamaican Funk Experience (Rude-Boy Riddims, Skanking Horns & Boss Reggae)" - similarly great but not grandiose.
